Higher education is transformative. It is an investment in yourself, one capable of paying great dividends, and one which no one can ever take from you.
Through individual attention, I will guide students and their families as they find, apply, and enroll in higher educational institutions that fit the student academically, socially, and financially.
I believe each student brings miraculous attributes to their community and our world. Our work together will enable the student to cohesively share these attributes with colleges through their admission applications.
After thinking about entering the field of College Admission Consulting for many years, I completed the UCLA College Counseling Certificate Program and became an Independent Educational Consultant. My professional association memberships entail continuous learning and a commitment to honest & ethical standards.
My experience working with my own children on their college search and application processes, advising friends on the process, and editing essays, taught me that there was a need for calm, honest, transparent, and realistic advice. I witnessed many students not receiving the counsel that would have led them to a college that fit them better and helped them to avoid extra years of college, transfers, and/or exorbitant debt.
Born and raised in upstate New York, I attended Penn State, where I received a B.S. with Honors from the Schreyer Honors College with a major focused on labor economics. Afterward, I earned a Master's Degree from University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign where I was in the School of Labor and Industrial Relations, again focused on labor economics. I worked in corporate Human Resources, Benefits, and Change Management Consulting roles and also started my own consultancy for several years, taking on similar projects.
I took time out of the paid workforce for many years to focus on our family and children. During this time, I served on PTSA boards, taught Religious Education, led Brownie troops, volunteered for youth sports leagues, served on the AAUW Naperville Board and led the AAUW Naperville Public Policy team. I continue to lead a PTSA Scholarship Committee.
Carroll College Consulting involves partnering with students and their family to find the best college fit for the student. Guiding students and families through education, research, self discovery, careful planning, and counsel through the application process will yield results for the student and family that meet the goals established early in our time together. I have experience working with many types of students, including student athletes in the recruiting process, students with disabilities who are seeking accommodations in college, and students submitting arts supplements.
It is essential for a college consultant to have a broad and deep knowledge of many colleges and universities, including their unique attributes and programs offered. The best way to do this is by visiting colleges! I have visiting and toured over 90 colleges and universities! Click here to see where!
