Higher education is transformative. It is an investment in yourself, one capable of paying great dividends, and one which no one can ever take from you.
Through individual attention, I will guide students and their families as they find, apply, and enroll in higher educational institutions that fit the student academically, socially, and financially.
I believe each student brings miraculous attributes to their community and our world. Our work together will enable the student to cohesively share these attributes with colleges through their admission applications.
I love working with students and their families on their path toward college. It is a time of planning, excitement, and dreams. It can also be a time of worry and fear of the unknown.
My goal in working with students is to smooth the process and expand their possibilities. I partner with students with the goal of making our work manageable, fulfilling, reflective, and non-stressful. I aim to educate families along the way and partner as the student refines their aspirations and goals.
I am a graduate of the UCLA College Counseling Certificate Program, with Distinction. I rediscovered my love of “school” in this program, returning 30+ years after earning my Master’s degree in Labor & Industrial Relations from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and my Bachelor of Science, with Honors from the Schreyer Honors College, in Economics from The Pennsylvania State University.
I maintain memberships in professional organizations including HECA, IECA, IACAC. As a member of these organizations, I commit to a code of ethics, continuous learning, and many college visits annually. To give back, I provide pro-bono service to students through college opportunity organizations.
My experience working with students and their families and my educational background enable me to bring these unique competencies to this process:
I enjoy working with all types of students and believe that each student possesses miraculous attributes and will find a wonderful educational home after high school. I have worked with students applying to some of the most selective universities in the U.S. as well as students applying to colleges that are not as selective.I have experience working with students in athletic recruiting and in preparing arts supplements. I also have experience working with students who are supported with 504 Plans and/or IEPs in high school and helping them find a college fit.
There is a need for calm, honest, transparent, and realistic advice when planning for college. I have witnessed students not receiving the counsel that would have led them to a college that fit them better and helped them to avoid extra years of college, transfers, and/or exorbitant debt. My goal is to help students achieve their best-fit college outcome in a calm manner that retains the excitement that the journey should entail.
It is essential for a college consultant to have a broad and deep knowledge of many colleges and universities, including their unique attributes and programs offered. The best way to do this is by visiting colleges! I have visiting and toured over 100 colleges and universities! Click here to see where!
